I attended Mississippi State University for the first two years, but transferred to Mississippi College to finish earning a Bachelor's Degree in English.

My first teaching position was at a small rural school in Louisiana.  I wanted so desperately to teach that I accepted a teaching position that was two hours away from where I lived because there were no positions available where I lived.  I spent the next year living with my in-laws during the week and going home on weekends.  Being away from my husband was trying at times, but I was getting to do what I had always wanted to do and my husband was very supportive.

Later, we moved to Southaven when my husband's job transferred operations to Memphis.  I was blessed to be hired by Southaven High School and taught 9th grade English for two and a half years from 1992-1995.   After our second child was born, I got to be a stay-at-home mom.  I thought I would stay home for only a year or two, but I actually stayed away for ten years.

When I was ready to return to the classroom, I was blessed once again--Southaven welcomed me back with open arms in 2004.  Many of the same staff were still here, and I stepped right back into the classroom as if I had never left.

Southaven High School is simply the best, and I love being here! I look forward to this school year and will work to make the year successful for all of us!

Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading and being outdoors.  My husband and I have two daughters.  One is a student currently in vet school at Mississippi State University (Go Dawgs!!) and the other graduated from Washington University in Missouri and is now a lawyer in New York City.  I look forward to the times we all get to be together.
