I then attended and completed a Masters of Art degree in English from the University of Memphis.
Experience
I possess both high school as well as university teaching experience. I am currently teaching in my twelfth year at Southaven High School. During this time I have taught English I and II as well as speech and Mississippi writers. While at the University of Memphis for thirteen years, I instructed both freshman composition courses as well as two sophomore courses, American literature, and poetry and drama. Also, I taught a junior level advanced grammar course.
Bio
"Hand, Head, and Heart" is the motto from John Brown University, which is the undergraduate institute from which I graduated in 1984. My nearly twenty years in auto finance and the casino industry combined with teaching experience give unique insight which I try to pass on to my students. I want my students to learn the techniques and fundamentals of English to equip them with the needed communication skills for their vocational choices. Along the way, I also want them to develop the understanding that success in the professional world demands self-discipline as well as dedicated working skills which I further acquired while obtaining my masters in English from the University of Memphis.
