Bachelor of Arts in English Education from the University of Mississippi
Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi
Before joining the Southaven High School staff in January 2015, I completed five years of NCAA eligibility as a track and cross country athlete at the University of Mississippi. During that time I also completed my undergraduate degree and a portion of my graduate studies. Since joining the SHS staff in January 2015, I have taught both yearlong and semester English II to 10th graders and assisted in the track and cross country program.
Most of my students call me Coach Mac. I teach the dreaded, state-tested English II. I work with my students to develop habits and strategies that will benefit them beyond high school. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to equip my students to read anything--from the label on a can of soup to a philosophy book--by simply knowing how to ask the right questions and find the best answers.
